This page is dedicated to bike rides in the area around Oban, Argyll. The town has hills and mountains to the north, rolling forested wild lands to the south, and sea and islands to the west. Much of the off-road riding in the vicinity is on broad gravel tracks. As such, most of the rides on the "off-road" selection could be tackled either on a gravel or a mountain bike, depending on preference, skill level and desire to ride the technical sections.
Mull is easily accessible by a 50 minute ferry ride, as is Lismore, both of which allow day rides in surroundings which feel far from Oban. The gravel tracks to the south of the town offer a huge range of options, and several of the rides described here can be linked, combined, or switched between.
